Anyone else here at the moment?
I am really starting to dislike SF.
This one’s a bit tougher getting started on…

Last time. I promise.

If it’s tough to solve imagine how hard it was to create it. Twice. I had it all done based on a different website (think Google) and then they updated the city and the quality was very poor so I had to look elsewhere and found MJ. Then I had to redo the entire thing.

I can imagine. Steps seemed easy, now I think I may need a ticket, but so far I can’t find the damn girl, bush or fence to even give me the idea I’m in the right place…

I found a specific ocation and did some reverse engineering to get back to the girl. I have no idea how I was to get there directly, but at least I’m proceeding forwards now…

Well, I’ve been visiting Jack for over two hours now.

I thought I should just be able to coast to the girl, but I can’t find her - or any of the other landmarks.

I thought I recognized the path leading to the last landmark as well, but no luck yet.

I had trouble finding the girl and still don’t know how to find her directly. Instead I located one of the other landmarks that had clues to where it could be found and worked back to her.

I’m still looking where to get my cleaning done though.

I’m trying to work backwards too - probably from the same landmark, but I’m having a difficult time. I can never tell if I should go around the block or just down the other side of the street.

Hmmm….I’m waving my white flag.

I know exactly where to “get on” both times. But I can’t find ANYTHING in between. Maybe someone could tell me where to hop off.

My comments to Cowpatty-MJ is pretty cool. Actually it is REALLY cool - BUT for some reason it is really hard for me (probably even harder than puzzle 3) and so the fact that I’ve had to jump over 4 of these hurdles is making me tired…

Perhaps there is a trick I’m missing that you can tell me about once I’ve made it to the end.

With the MJ puzzles you need to proceed one step at a time. Keep moving forward, except when the landmarks on the map say so.
There is a slight difficulty in working backwards to figure out the turns, but if you know where you should have been coming from, the choices can be minimized.
I always try to step through and locate the landmarks first, then search for the clues.
I hope this is of help, I don’t want to give too much away…

The footsteps indicate how far (how many blue dots) you need to travel in any direction. When you get there, the next picture helps you determine which direction to go next.
The pictures and questions below the map are things you have to find along the way and are not necessarily in order but you should never have to leave the path to find them. Sometimes leaving the path may help you get a better look at something but shouldn’t be necessary.

While creating it, I found it necessary sometimes to make sure I was looking down in front of me enough or else I started counting on the wrong dot because I didn’t see the one directly in front of me.

The trolley car is different from normal but once you figure how to get on it, where you need to take it to should be fairly obvious. MJ has a search feature on the right.

I know this is a fairly direct answer. I will probably delete it. Let me know when you’ve read it.

Also, this is the last piece of the map, I promise.

OK- I’ll try again…

BTW - I originally thought that the steps and dots correlated. There are a few sections where they do, but there are some sections that didn’t match at all for me.

Well I checked the counting several times but we all know that I still make mistakes.

Sometimes if you have the view zoomed in or out, it can affect how many steps you think you are taking and how many you really take. I find it easier to have it zoomed out to get the best match of steps to dots.

Just getting started…

Found the girl but she might as well be on an island for all the help she gives. Can’t seem to get the right perspective so that I know the proper street to follow.

And now I’m out of tokens for the trolley…

I have found the landmarks upto the second trolley. except the girl. From this I have found 2 of the clues.
But where the second trolley leads yet I have not found.

Does anyone know if any clues are along the path the trolley takes? or are they only only along the footprints?

Who would have thought there where so many damn trees in San Francisco?

If you find the girl, there should only be one perspective that is valid. Usually fo landmarks on the map, you should be standing in an intersection to get the perpective.
If you can get to the girl, all clues are from there on.
There are lots of trees, but the one you want is fairly easy to notice, but only if you find it…it will stand out.
The second trolley has clues en-route though.

I went all the way to the end of the line and haven’t found the girl yet. Going to start back tracking and maybe the reverse perspective will help.

The girl is not actually on the line. I would’ve thought she was based on the map, but I guess I’m still missing CowPatty’s train of thought on that one.

Backtracking from a later landmark helped me locate her instead, from there it was much easier.

I don’t know how to ride the trolley

UncleBen.
I suggest you take barberofcivils approach. find the second trolley and backtrack. If you look carefully at it you may see where it ‘travels’ which will give you an idea where to look.

As to where the second one goes. well I’m trying to decide if I go in the direction i’m facing on the map. Or the direction of travel of the trolley.

btw. in Australia we call them Trams not trolleys.

done!

The general rule has been go in the direction you are facing when you see the landmark from the proper perspective.

I’ve been ridin’ the rails and found the second tram. I had to map out about 2/3 of the trolley lines to get it but I found it.

I backtracked from the public transportation to the letter, to the shrubbery (possibly of the knights who say Ni!), to the shadowy woman.

I was wrong before, I’d found a similar but not perfect image of a woman standing under at tree.

#24 would have made it easier if I’d only paid a little more attention…

I’m concerned now because I’ve found the first two keywords but am stuck looking for the third.

I still don’t know how to “get on the trains” and although that may be a euphemism for chasing them on foot, #11 leads me to believe otherwise.

Stuck, again.

aloe01, I did what you did and it didn’t work for me either, I have a pretty good idea of where you ended up: a dead end.

Done.

But maybe not… may need some help from those still working the puzzles… anyone stuck?

Uncle ben
If you are at the second tram try #26 then something in #20 will help speed your travel to the jump off point.

being aware of the suns direction and the shadows it casts also speeds up the search.

I agree.

Fishing for friends for #11

I must not know how to get on the trolley. I’ve tried a couple of different ways other than the path to the dead end, but, I cannot tell if any of them are right as seeing I can’t seem to find the girl.

ok - managed to backtrack from the 2nd trolley. Still confused about how they work though.

This trolley business seems to be causing alot of confusion. That’s interesting. I like how you are able to work around it and find the way but holy smokes, that’s alot of work.

aloe01,

You can walk everywhere from the second trolley, backwards to the girl and forward to the end.

It wasn’t as much work as it would seem. Looking at the picture of the second trolley told me what street I should find it on, then I just ran up the street watching out for it.

Not to give too much away, but I thinl this is fairly obvious from the discussion here: The issue I found is, the first trolley doesn’t lead to the girl (at least not using the trolley in the manner we assume). Perhaps we misunderstand how the trolley works.

Are you aware that you can “board” the trolley? There’s a clue there, and MJ has a search feature….

I spent some quality time trying to figure out how to get on but never could. I joked about tokens because I was hoping someone would mention how to get on.

Did anyone actually ride the trolley to solve this one?

Hmmm. I tried again and was able to “get on”. Perhaps you don’t fully understand all the features of the map.

Seems so.

I’ll see if I can’t figure out how to board the last trolley, as I still need to find the last 3 clues as is.

ah ha! Funny how I missed that!

Maybe I should look for a short bus to ride instead because I still don’t get it.

Links. The map has them. Some of the pics have them also…….
