Who’s here so far?

You’re on your own at the moment. There have been some that have past you.

I’m about 3/5 through puzzle 4. Mo person can ever say that I don’t know Jack….I’ve been out of town for a few days, but I AM COMING BACK. See you tomorrow…

Just to say that we are still around (we plan to work through games 1 and 2 shortly) and happy to provide little nudgettes on all levels, to anyone who might want them. Just ask - don’t want to wade in with big boots on where they might not be wanted.

FWIW - we found what may have been a coincidence, or might have been a very elegant red herring in puzz5 - it threw us off track for a considerable time, whichever it was.

finally made it! My eyes are on sensory overload now after puzzle 4.

So, I’ve figured out the foreign characters and also figured out some interesting things about the license plates, but, not able to piece anything together yet.

OK Sharing what I have so far.
Layed out on a 5×11 grid (doesn’t match Chess grid)
10 states in total represented (relates to chinese figures?)
Words represent something real (all small)
Paired plates match except Colorado which has colours inverted.
vertical groups don’t seem to mean anything (at this stage)

Ordering the states in a certain way gives
FND CHAPL OEA
find chapel ???

Maybe I’m starting to see messages where there are none….

Work on each row, and don’t re-order the rows. Think of something related to each one that would match the 5 columns of the grid.

If this is 9 of 10, do we need to find the rest and how?

Or is it the ninth of 10 things that is important?

I’m from a small town so I don’t know if any big city folk care to throw some ideas my way.

UncleBen

Solve the plates first, then use the 9 of 10 later once you know where you are going.

Soozook:

>Layed out on a 5×11 grid (doesn’t match Chess grid)

correct.

How many columns was that again?

>10 states in total represented

Not relevant

> (relates to chinese figures?)

No

> Words represent something real (all small)

correct

Now, what else might we know about these small real things?

> Paired plates match except Colorado which has colours inverted.

not relevant. See your previous point.

> vertical groups don’t seem to mean anything (at this stage)

correct

PS How’s the weather with you? Plenty of sunshine headed your way?

Hey I’m back! There’s more to solving the rows than the obvious right? I’m stuck. :(

plumbum has intrgued me with the fifth column and possible implications for the story.

All of my ideas as yet remain unincorporated into anything useful.

I’ve figured out the rows (or, at least what seems the obvious part that Indiedezz refers to) but am stuck on significance of the columns.

Oddly enough I have been by one of these “rows” several times in my life and its too bad that can’t help me solve this puzzle!

Aaaah, it is satisfactual!

But now I’m stuck again.

UncleBen

> Aaaah, it is satisfactual!

sho’ is

> But now I’m stuck again.

look up

Are the number of plates in each column significant? They seem to be taking me somewhere, but not sure if its somewhere I’m supposed to be going.

aloe01

no, not at all. Process the rows.

darn. I thought I was onto something.

I must be missing something with the rows then. I’ve identified them, but I guess I haven’t gone far enough…

aloe01, I was where you are at (from how post #15 sounds) and then plumbum helped me move a little further and in my excitement I felt like singing the method from the top of my lungs (#12-#16-#18).

Believe me my mental struggle still exists!

While I understand the references given by UncleBen and plumbum I haven’t been able to put 2 & 2 together…

I’m with you aloe01.

I thought of four ways to look up however (well, 4 that could possibly have anything to do with this puzzle.

1. Look up through the posts
2. Look up at your computer screen/internet explorer (literal)
3. Look up at the sky (literal)
4. Look up online

I was also curious as to how many of us are still working away on the puzzles. ???

I’m still here - I’m still trying to make the connection between the plates/5 columns. Even after all the hints I’m having a hard time. I think I need to take a step back and re-examine things

Let me hint this way. Latitude is more important than longitude. Just recognize that there are longitudes.

Another summary:
#12 What else do we know about the rows
Location, population,towns, county, state

#16 A song

#28 latitude more important.
could mean the columns are more important but we need to keep in mind they are real places. Or that we need to look at Location more closely.

At the moment I fail to see how the song matches what we have in anyway. Have looked up lyrics, characters etc.

I’m in the same boat as you Soozook - I feel once we find this connection we can move forward.

I feel like I’ve learned as much as I can find of these places - I found two possibilities that relates to “5″ relative to their location but not sure if its the right thing since it seems to be getting me nowhere.

And, actually I understood latitude to mean the rows, not the columns…since latitude determines your position left & right (East & West).

er - they run east & west, not measure east & west for clarification

Correct about latitude.

Also, the song hint is in reference to the title of a Disney tune that once you know what you’re looking for, you’ll probably know the song being hinted at.

I guess I know zip about latitude and longitude.
or how it might decode the puzzle.

but if I did I think ‘position’ might then play a part.
All thats left then is to determine what it equals.

HAHA ’snakiest jap’ or ‘japans kites’ nope I guess thats not it.
I might be up to where the 9 of 10 comes in. hmm

Now the hint “look up” might apply here.

“Looking up” takes me somewhere - but it doesn’t look like the right place. I could be “looking up” in the wrong way though.

However, I still have 11, so figuring out how to get 9 of 10.

Oh man!!! Clever one that was!!

Where did that bluebird go?

Gave us part of the answer and then left.

Have a nice little grid of numbers but no apparent next move, any hints?

UncleBen - thinking of it as a grid might be less than helpful.

Consider the plates in each row. How many entities do they represent?

Okayyy?

One!

Unfortunately, we never see the obvious answer. This is usually not for lack of trying by others.

Is it safe to say that from where we are, the numbers take you somewhere else to where the 9 of 10 is useful?

Posts #33 and #34 helped me the most. If you get to where soozook was on #34, that is the best place to start “looking up”

In your grid, the positioning of the plates is key. It may remind you of something in the puzzle 2 video.

Looks like we are left UncleBen.
position is key and may link to something in puz2 vid.?
No message has 11 lines.
No list on doco has 11 items.
Maybe a sentence with 11 words. Though none with 5 letters in each word.

still lost.

incidently
stejknipasa reversed = asapinkjets and there is a website for this.

Nice Soozook. Now, 9 of 10

Oh your joking… no way.

how does the vid help?

you actually sent me in the wrong direction with that one : 0
I was on my way then changed tack grrr.

In reference to changing #’s to letters.

With you on 6 Soozook, glad to have company.

Solved!!
