Thoughts on the Puzzle PiEces game

By Cowpattybill

Well, the game went much quicker than I had hoped. Just over 4 days. I was figuring it to take around 2-3 weeks. So far 3 people have finished the game (two of them worked together on it) and the rest of the group is scattered between puzzles 3 and 5. Just about where I figured they would be at this time. I don’t know what Southwest, Plumbum and Klaatu do for a living but they should be hired by the governement to solve the Darfur puzzle, or the global warming puzzle, or maybe the middle East puzzle. They sure are some pretty smart folks. I congratulate them on a job VERY well done.

At least it lasted longer than the previous game. One unfortunate thing is that the number of players was far less than previous games. I blame most of it on Google’s warning they posted about the site. I removed all the “malware” that was unknowingly hidden on the site and asked them to check again, and they did. They found the site clean and removed the warnings but it took about 4 days. This all happened the day before the game started so I think that scared off alot of players. Hopefully they’ll be back for the next game, Chasing Shadows.

I would very much like to hear your feedback on Puzzle Pieces. Did you like it? Hate it? Which puzzle was your favorite? Least favorite? What do you think of the storyline? Etc. I use the feedback to make the next game better. For those of you still playing, continued good luck.

One Response so far

Cowpatty. I really enjoyed the game. Despite some early frustration due to lack of perspective on my part. Elements I enjoyed.
I liked the way the puzzles teach me something new. Ie. The websites i didn’t even know existed. Some history etc.
Puzzles 2,3,7,9,11 Though I might get stuck and not see the way forward It’s cool how it all ‘comes together’ to provide the solution. I also appreciate the effort that has gone into them.

I like the story line although I think some of the puzzles could have been tied together with the story a little more. Either via the answer or in narrative. Eg. 5 and 7

Dislikes.
The MapJack recurred to much. Possibly a better approach would have been to supply a bit of the map after solving each puzzle then once all the pieces where gathered done a treck through the city. This approach would have supplied a goal for solving 4 of the puzzles and mitigated a little of the ‘not again’ factor at the end. Having said that I did enjoy walking around San Francisco. I feel like I have been there. Amazed at how much it changes within a few small blocks.

Concern.
I really like the way you have incorporated external sites and I assume friends sites into the puzzles. But this raises an issue with longevity of your puzzles. As you have already found the internet changes.

keep up the good work.
The only problem now is how am I going to occupy my time.
