During a fuel shortage, Running-On-Empty Randy drove to a gas station and waited in line behind many other motorists. A man in the familiar gas-station uniform walked over and explained to him, “We have a ten dollar limit. To speed things along we’re taking cash only, in advance.” Randy gave the man a ten dollar bill. When he reached the front of the line and pulled up to a pump, he asked for his ten dollars worth of gas. “The limit is five dollars,” replied the attendant. What happened?

Always-Late Larry woke up, you guessed it, late. It was raining outside and although he drove as fast as he safely could he was still late for work. He hurriedly drove into the parking lot, parked, turned off the windshield wipers, jumped out of his car, slammed the door, and ran for the main entrance.
After work, he could not get the car started. The battery was dead. He checked and everything- the lights, wipers, radio, etc - was turned off and the door had been fully closed. Puzzled, he got a jump start from a co-worker, drove home and used his battery recharger to put a good charge on the battery. But despite careful testing, he never found out why the battery went dead. Can you?

A man was sitting in his hotel room watching TV when there was a knock at the door. He opened the door to see a woman whom he had never seen before. She said, “Oh, I’m sorry. I have made a mistake. I thought this was my room.” She then walked down the corridor to the elevator. The man went back into his room and phoned the front desk and told them to apprehand the woman, who he was sure was a thief. What made him so sure?

While doing some puzzle research I came across the idea of lateral thinking puzzles. What is a lateral thinking puzzle? Basically it’s a short story that provides some clues. You, the player, read it and ask me questions to gather additional information, formulate assumptions, and test possible solutions. To the questions you ask I can respond with only “Yes”, “No”, “Irrelevant”, or “Rephrase”. Some situations may have more than one possible solution but you’re trying to figure out the specific solution I have.
This seems like it might be some fun so I thought we could give it a try. It may take a couple of games to get the hang of it. It’s a nice way to spend your time while you wait for Game 3: Chasing Shadows to come out.
I will send out an email to all registered players letting them know about these lateral thinking puzzles. Once that is done (probably tomorrow, Wednesday) I will post the first one the next day (Thursday). There will be a link on the main page to access the puzzles. You will be able to read the scenario and begin posting questions. I will do my best to answer the questions as quickly as I can. Once the puzzle is solved I will post the next one. Eventually I’ll be able to determine an appropriate time frame for each puzzle and begin posting them at specific intervals (perhaps weekly).
Hopefully you will find them as interesting and challenging as I think they might be. It seems a little corny in the beginning but after a few are completed I think we’ll get into the swing of it.
Good luck.

Momentum is picking up for strong>Game 3: Chasing Shadows. I have the basic path of the game determined and am currently designing two of the puzzles. I have also been working on a new idea that, although difficult to design (for me anyway) will make the game very interesting and add to it’s difficulty.
This game will likely turn out to be the most difficult of the Mr. E series. I should remind you again that if you haven’t played game 1 and 2, you should do so. The information in those games is essential to the story line and may be required for easier progress through this game.
Chasing Shadows will complete the Mr. E series. I don’t know what will happen next. I have a few side projects that I must complete (cleaning up game 1 and 2, completing a kids version of ClueChaser) but after that I will work on shifting the focus of the site and move more towards yearly puzzle games. It’ll give me more time to create them and will allow me to make them more structured and flow nicely and all puzzles and answers be related to the storyline. Plus it will give me more time to advertise and promote the games.
During the time between the games I plan to post more sample puzzles and try some other ideas.
Pressing on…..

It’s official. The first teaser video for Game 3: Chasing Shadows has been released.
I put all the game related videos together on one page. The newest one is at the bottom. Personally I think each one is better than the previous one. I’ve been told I should consider doing this as a side business. Well I guess if you’re interested or thinks it’s a good idea let me know. I’ll look into it.

Between now and the time Game 3: Chasing Shadows starts, I will be releasing a series of teaser videos. The purpose is to fill in the gap between the end of Game 2 and the beginning of Game 3. I plan to release the first one next week. I have a little bit of tweaking to do on it first.
Some of the videos may contain clues that might be necessary for the game. Notification of a video release will be made via email as well as posted on the site. I think I will be creating a page on the site for all the videos so you can view them all in one place.
I haven’t decided yet but Clue Club members may or may not be getting an additional Members Only video as well. If so, it will be near the beginning of Game 3.
