Time for Restoration

By Cowpattybill

One nice thing about having your own blog is that you can use it as a platform to speak your mind about issues.

Have you seen the TV show called Jericho? No? Well you should. However it’s not on TV anymore. It oriignally aired in Sept 2006 and was cancelled after the first season. A grass roots efforts began and eventually demand was high enough that a 7 episode second season was done which ran from February through March 2008. Now it’s back off the air.

I didn’t see it on TV. I discovered it through Netflix but the episodes are also available online (see imdb.com). The show is about a small Kansas town that has to survive after being cutoff from the rest of the country when atomic bombs are dropped on key cities across the nation. It’s a fantastic show.

But you know what? Although the story line is good that’s not the reason I love it. I love it for the characters. The men are men and they step up. They take charge. They do what needs to be done. They’re the protectors. The providers. They are not like men in other TV shows where they’re fat and clumsy and have wives that are beautiful, slim, and intelligent. I have no issues with the women. I have issues with the way men are portrayed in TV, movies, and commercials these days. Men often appear as lazy, sex addicted slobs who only want to watch TV and make jokes about everything. Where are the men from classic TV shows like Little House on the Prairie, and Leave it to Beaver, and Happy Days? Shows where the husband/father modeled family values and was respected. That kind of man is absent in shows like King of Queens, According to Jim, and The Simpsons. In these shows he’s just a punching bag. He’s mocked, disrespected, ignored and laughed at.

I say it’s time we restore the image of men in the media. I say we need more shows like Jericho. Shows that have men of integrity. Men of character. Men of good moral fiber. When there are quality men to look up to and model maybe then things will start to get better in the world.

Jericho. Watch it.

Puzzling changes

By Cowpattybill

So the site looks a little different. I decided it was time for a change. I wanted a new look and new colors. So far the feedback has been positive. I guess people were tired of the blue and gray. I don’t know how long I will stick with the current look. I am continuing my search but for now, this is the one that stays. In the meantime, please be patient while I move things around. The layout is different and some of the links are missing (like the Clue Club). I’ll have them back shortly.

One the puzzling front, game 3 development is continuing to progress but at a very slow pace. My personal life has gotten very hectic. Hopefully soon it will slow down and allow me more time for puzzle creating.

I dropped a major sub puzzle (by that I mean something like in game one where each correct answer gave you a number that was part of a set of coordinates) which was really bogging my mind down trying to figure out how to do it. With it out of the picture it has freed me up to think bigger and as it turns out, the game will be better without it. Double bonus!

Still looking at a December release. A new teaser video should be out in a couple weeks.
